How DataCore SANsymphony has made the enterprise more flexible, secure and future-ready
With a long experience in the production of green maintenance machinery, Ferri SRL has embarked on a path of technological evolution to support the growth and innovation of its business processes. The generational change in ownership accelerated investment in digitization and management applications, but the existing IT infrastructure was no longer adequate. The VMware platform was based on standalone servers: a hardware failure could cause operational crashes, while even simple upgrades required planned downtime. For a constantly growing company, this situation could no longer be tolerated.
Target
The priority for Ferri SRL was to ensure true business continuity. The existing infrastructure, based on standalone VMware servers, did not offer sufficient protection in case of failure and forced to plan downtime even for routine maintenance activities. In an increasingly digitized business environment with application systems central to productivity, the risk of outages was no longer sustainable. The company therefore wanted a solution that could ensure stability and reliability, reduce downtime, and at the same time offer the flexibility to grow without having to rethink the entire infrastructure. All this without losing sight of the budget constraint, which imposed a balance between innovation and economic sustainability.
The solution adopted
To address these needs, Eurosystem has proposed the implementation of DataCore SANsymphony, a software-defined storage platform that enables the virtualization of available resources and ensures a high level of business continuity. The choice fell on an architecture with two VMware-based hyperconverged hosts, designed to offer reliability and ease of management. The project started with the initial installation in CED, which was followed by a second phase of deployment in two separate rooms so as to further strengthen security and resilience. The entire implementation took place without interruption of critical services, allowing the company to continue working without impacting the business.
The results
The adoption of DataCore SANsymphony has transformed Ferri SRL’s IT infrastructure. The company can now rely on a stable, secure , high-performance system that eliminates the risks of unplanned downtime and dramatically reduces downtime for upgrades or maintenance. Overall performance is improved, offering greater responsiveness to applications and business processes. From a management perspective, the new platform has simplified the work of the IT team through a centralized console, reducing operational time and complexity. Most importantly, Ferri SRL now has a solid technological base, capable of accompanying future business developments with the security of being able to scale up in a modular way, without invasive or costly interventions.
